Five return to Foucart St (the unveiling!)

Finally.  We're back in our 'new old' house and LOVING it.  Countless boxes to unpack, dust from builders to clean and stuff to organise, but it's great to have finally finished what has to be the world's longest renovation project.

Starting in 2006 with a few ideas but no real vision, finally engaging our architect in 2007, numerous changes to plans, procrastinating, re-baselining budgets, selecting fixtures, engaging builders and moving out in November 2010....it's great to be back.

Take a look at our November 2010 post to get a real idea of the changes.

Next project (aside from unpacking)? Spending more money (Megan) and buying new furniture.  Then we'll be ready for a proper housewarming!

Light and open...awesome pendant lights

Our bedroom in the treetops - bring on the warmer weather!

Yes - we have hot water in the kitchen for the first time since early 2007...

Can you spot the pussycat door?

Way too many interesting windows, curves and angles

Downstairs bathroom - can't wait to try the freestanding tub

No more 'stairs of death' in the middle of the house to contend with!

Action shot (although Miles is sleeping on the job. Again)

Even the old upstairs living space is much lighter with a new lick of paint, new windows and dark stained floorboards...no more cream and pine!

We won't miss the stencilled concrete...

...or the sloping side yard, which has finally been levelled off!
