Baby Led Weaning - take 1

Over the last few weeks, Miles has become more and more interested in what I've been eating, swiping at food on my plate and trying to 'help' by holding glasses, utensils, etc as they make their way to my mouth. First food (or drink, as was the case) was almost a sip of red wine at a vineyard a couple of weekends ago...thankfully, DOCS weren't around to witness this!

I don't really see the point in feeding your baby something you wouldn't be prepared to eat yourself, so the idea of baby led weaning appealed.  No rice cereal, purees or other unappetising food for our fella -- and therefore no need to separately prepare meals for mummy.  Baby led weaning is all about letting your baby decide what they want to eat and feed themselves.  Messy? Yes.  But it's also teaching Miles about different textures, how to hold things and different flavours.

Dad didn't want to miss the fun, so on Saturday we broke out the smock (a bib wasn't going to cut it!), sat Miles in his bumbo and gave it a go.

First meal (lunch) - cucumber and avocado sticks.

Verdict - I'll let you be the judge....take a look at a few action shots below!

ready...

get set...

go!

my (avocado covered )smock also tastes pretty good
