A boy goes to Bali - part 1 (The adventure begins)

Passports. Check.
Business class tickets. Check
Luxury villa booked. Check.

But where's dad??

Mum and Miles flew solo to Bali, arriving 24 hours before dad and lived to tell the tale.

Things that mum learned about solo air travel with a curious 10.5 month old:

- 6 hours on a plane with no backup is PLENTY of time for anyone.
- 11kg babies are very heavy to hold whilst sleeping on your lap for much of the flight. Miles had his own seat, but this lost it's appeal after head chewed on the seatbelt, thrown all contents of the seat pocket on the floor and just avoided getting his finger stuck when trying to pull out the tray table.
- it's difficult to eat a meal standing up in the aisle whilst placating a crying baby.
- it's impossible to go to the bathroom without palming your child off to strangers for 5 minutes.

We arrived at Denpasar Airport safely, were first off the plane, visas obtained/cleared customs/collected luggage and located our driver within 30 minutes....definitely a record for Denpasar Airport, notorious for very long queues and sloooow immigration.  Babies do have some benefits!

Villa staff stayed up and awaited our 11pm arrival -- after a welcome drink, much cuddling of Miles and a tour of our home for the next 8 nights, we crashed out in bed.  Mum crossed her fingers that Miles would be able to grasp the concept of timezones and realise that we were now 3 hours behind Sydney time...

Miles was pleased with having his very own business class seat....for the 10 minutes he used it
