A boy goes to Bali - part 4 (scoffing)

It's fair to say that we ate very well on our holiday.

Breakfast was cooked for the 3 of us every morning, with Miles getting stuck into nasi goreng or an omelette most days, along with plenty of fresh fruit.  Mangosteen and watermelon were highlights for him.

Lunch was generally eaten out and about.  Our villa was walking distance from a couple of nice cafes, and a 25min taxi ride into Seminyak saw us spoiled for choice.  Regardless of where we went, Miles was the star attraction -- waiters and other staff whisked him away at every opportunity into their kitchens to feed him, take photos with him, and provide free babysitting so we could enjoy our own meals. He crawled from one end of the restaurant to the other, and did his best to get in the way of other patrons and staff -- probably helping himself to a few "seconds" along the way, but it was all good for his immunity!!

Most nights, we opted to eat dinner at the villa.  On the strength of the meal we were provided with on the first night, this turned out to be a fantastic solution to ensuring the lad could go to bed at a reasonable time and mum and dad could enjoy a relaxing evening. The food was fantastic and fantastically cheap!  For no more than $12, we were provided with all the sate/grilled fish/fried duck/vegetables/rice we could possibly eat, and then some.  Staff went above and beyond, not only driving up to 1.5hrs to collect dinner (because that's where the best fish came from!), but also serving it up and generally waiting on our every whim.

One night, we bit the bullet and employed a baby sitter sister sitter (!) for Miles and headed out for a fancy meal together.  Easiest gig the sitter could possibly have had, with Miles asleep for the duration of her visit.

Not sure how much sate ayam was consumed in a week, but I think it could have been triple digits. Yum.

Crawling around tables in restaurants was lots of fun

even better...chocolate treats bestowed upon blonde-haired boys by waiters

...or daddy's beer

cheers!
