By 8am, we had:
- Played endless games of peekaboo
- Run out of apps to play with on the iPad
- Run out of apps to play with on the iPad
- Watched the sun rise and the fishing boats come in from the rooftop terrace
- Demolished a breakfast fit for a king
- Swam in the pool, much to the amazement of the villa staff (yes...we had an audience of 3!) -- they couldn't believe how confident Miles was in the water
After which time, Miles went back to bed and mum had some much needed downtime (and another swim).
Dad wasn't arriving until 7pm, so mum and son had the whole day to hang out together. We took a walk with the hired stroller down to the beach and watched the surfers, walked through ricefields, found a nice place to stop for lunch and a drink, and all the while mum tried to conquer her fear of the local wildlife - Bali dogs.
Bali dogs all look the same -- beige, scrawny, and slightly scary (to me, anyway!). I've never come across an aggressive one in Bali, but we have had a run in with one of their scary Lao cousins (narrowly avoiding a bite and potential trip to the clinic for a rabies injection), so I'm always on alert. Apart from being followed by a couple of the dogs, curious about the strange red 3-wheeled contraption containing a particularly fair-skinned large baby, I'm pleased to report they didn't pick up on the smell of my fear.
Safely back at the villa, the staff were amazing, with plenty of games to keep Miles amused (and give mum some needed downtime whilst waiting for dad to arrive).
With Miles safely tucked up in bed for the night and dad safely ensconced in the villa, we sat down to the first of a series of delicious Indonesian dinners (more on this later) over a nice glass of vino. Time to unwind....
sunrise from the roof terrace (waaaay too early to be that smiley!)
not sure what to make of the ricefields....where's lunch, mum?!
